DayZ Spawnpoint Editor (cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml)
Where do players spawn on your server? This editor shows every spawn point of the cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml on the real satellite map — with town names for orientation. Drag points to move them, click to add new ones, manage groups and tune the spawn distances, then download the finished XML. Starts with the vanilla points of your map; your own file can be imported too.
Real satellite maps of Chernarus, Livonia and Sakhal with town names — fast WebP tiles, smooth zoom from coast to compound.
Point editing like on a drawing board: drag to move, one click to add, popup to delete — grouped and color-coded.
Vanilla start or file import, browser autosave per map, undo/redo and clean vanilla-style XML export.
How the editor works
Pick your map — the editor loads the official vanilla spawn points (fresh spawns, server-hop and travel points as separate tabs). Or import your own cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml.
Every group has its own colour. Drag markers to move them, switch to “Add point” and click the map to create new points in the selected group, open a marker's popup to delete it. Groups can be created, renamed and removed; the distance and generator parameters are explained field by field.
Download the finished cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml and upload it into your mission folder. All changes are saved in your browser per map, so you can continue any time.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml in DayZ?
It defines where players (re)spawn: fresh characters (fresh), players who switched servers (hop) and players arriving from another location (travel) each have their own point lists, distance rules and group rotation. The file lives in the mission folder of your server.
How do spawn points actually work — is the exact point used?
No. Each point is the centre of a rectangle (grid width × height). The game samples that rectangle for valid positions — respecting distances to infected, players and objects plus the slope limits — and picks one. Your points therefore define areas, not exact pixels.
What is the difference between fresh, hop and travel?
fresh = brand-new characters after death. hop = players joining from another server (server hopping) — often placed inland to punish loot cycling. travel = players arriving from a linked location. Most community servers only tune fresh.
What are spawn groups?
Groups (e.g. “WestCherno”) bundle nearby points. The game activates one group for a while (lifetime/counter in the group parameters) and rotates — so players spawn spread across the map in waves instead of everywhere at once. You can also disable groups entirely.
Does this work for console servers (Nitrado)?
Yes. The cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml works on PC and console community servers alike: download it from your host's file browser, edit it here, upload it back and restart. No mods required.
