Loadout Generator
Decide what fresh players wake up with on your server: character models, clothing, weapons with attachments and a filled inventory. The generator writes the cfgplayerspawngear.json that DayZ reads directly — including a check that everything can actually spawn.

Loadout Generator is in beta
This tool is still in development and currently only available to beta supporters. Unlock beta access with a one-time donation of €20 – and support the running costs of DZPage at the same time.
Every new DZPage tool starts in the beta phase and becomes free for everyone once it's officially released. The item database, Types editor and API always stay free.
31 original characters to choose from, with real portraits from the game.
Random variants per slot: several pieces of clothing with weights, just like vanilla.
Checked against the real game data: nothing ends up in the wrong slot and nothing silently disappears.
How it works
Pick a template as a starting point. “Vanilla” is the real default gear straight from the game files — t-shirt, canvas pants, sneakers, each in several colours.
Choose which survivor models may spawn, then click through the gear slots. Each slot can hold several variants; the server rolls one of them at spawn, weighted by the numbers you set.
In the inventory step you fill backpack, vest and pockets. The bar shows how much space the gear really offers — anything that does not fit silently disappears in game.
Finally download the file and register it in your cfggameplay.json. Important: serverDZ.cfg needs enableCfgGameplayFile = 1, otherwise the server never reads the file at all.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the file go?
Into your mission folder, for example mpmissions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus/. Then add the file name to cfggameplay.json under PlayerData → spawnGearPresetFiles.
Nothing happens even though the file is there — why?
Almost always enableCfgGameplayFile = 1 is missing in serverDZ.cfg. Without that line the server ignores the whole cfggameplay.json, and with it your loadout. Also double-check the exact file name.
Can I use several loadouts at once?
Yes. Each file holds exactly one loadout — that is not a limit of this tool but the way DayZ loads the files. Create several files and list them all in spawnGearPresetFiles. The weight at the top controls how often each loadout is drawn.
What do the percentages on the variants mean?
They show the chance that this exact variant is drawn. Three items with weight 1 in one slot means each appears in a third of the cases. Higher numbers make single variants more common.
Why can I not put a pistol on the back?
Because DayZ does not allow it: in the game files Pistol_Base only declares the holster slot, while Rifle_Base declares shoulder and back. A pistol belongs in the hands or in a vest holster — which is why every slot here only offers what actually spawns there.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The whole editor runs in your browser and the file is created at download time. We only fetch item names and icons from our database.
Your server is set up. Can players find it?
List it on DZPage for free: PC, PlayStation and Xbox, with a live player count, votes, comments and your own server page. No premium slots, no payment, no waiting.
