DayZ Event Editor (events.xml)

Edit your server's dynamic events without touching raw XML: pick an event like the helicopter crash, understand every value through plain-language help, drag spawn positions directly on the satellite map — and download ready-to-use events.xml and cfgeventspawns.xml files for Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal.

Map

Everything is saved automatically in your browser — per map. Download both files and upload them to your server while it is stopped; changes apply after a restart.

Every vanilla event explained: heli crashes, military convoys, trains, gas zones, vehicles, wolf packs and more — with plain-language descriptions and category filters.

Spawn positions on the real satellite map: view, drag, add and delete the fixed positions from cfgeventspawns.xml per event, including train and convoy group sites.

Guard rails built in: live checks catch broken counts, missing positions, a disabled Loot event and other classic mistakes before your server does.

How it works

Choose your map — the editor starts with the official vanilla files of DayZ 1.29. Pick an event from the list (search or filter by category) and every value is editable with an explanation: how many exist at once, how fast they respawn, how far from players they spawn.

For events with fixed positions the satellite map shows every spawn point. Drag markers to move them, click to add new ones, delete what you don't want. Children (the objects an event spawns) show real item icons where available and can be added via item search.

Download events.xml into mpmissions/<mission>/db/ and cfgeventspawns.xml into mpmissions/<mission>/ while the server is stopped, then restart. No persistence wipe is needed for event changes.

Frequently asked questions

What are DayZ events and which files control them?

Dynamic events are everything the Central Economy spawns on its own: helicopter crashes, vehicle spawns, animal packs, infected, fruit under trees and more. events.xml (in mpmissions/<mission>/db/) defines each event's counts, timing and behavior; cfgeventspawns.xml (in mpmissions/<mission>/) holds the fixed map positions; cfgeventgroups.xml describes multi-object sites like train wrecks.

How do I get more helicopter crashes?

Raise nominal on StaticHeliCrash (vanilla: 3 active at once, cycling every 35 minutes via lifetime 2100). Keep nominal well below the number of spawn positions — the community rule of thumb is two to three times more positions than nominal, because saferadius and distanceradius shrink the usable set. You can also lower lifetime so crash sites relocate more often.

Why doesn't my event spawn?

The classic causes: active is 0; the event has no positions in cfgeventspawns.xml although position is fixed; nominal is higher than the usable positions; the name has no known prefix (custom events must start with Animal, Infected, Item, Static, Trajectory or Vehicle); or a child classname doesn't exist. The editor's checks flag all of these.

Do I need to wipe the server after changing events?

No. Mission files are read at server start, so a restart is enough — persistence stays untouched. Exceptions: already-spawned persistent things like vehicles keep existing until destroyed, and in local offline testing the storage_-1 folder must be deleted for changes to apply.

Can I delete events I don't want?

You can, but switching active to 0 is safer: it keeps the vanilla baseline and avoids dangling position entries. Never disable the event called Loot — it drives the entire building loot economy. The editor warns you if Loot is missing or inactive.
