DayZ Globals Editor (globals.xml)

globals.xml is the control center of the DayZ loot economy: how many infected and animals exist, how quickly dead bodies and ruined loot disappear, how long login and logout take, and how flag poles protect your base. Adjust everything here with plain-language sliders — import your own file, tweak it, download it.

All 30 vanilla variables with plain-language explanations, sliders and safe value ranges — no wiki digging needed.

Full mod support: unknown variables from modded servers survive import and export, and you can add your own.

Plausibility checks catch broken values (login timer over the engine limit, food decay without wetness updates) before they reach your server.

How it works

Start from vanilla values or import the globals.xml of your server (file upload or paste). Modded variables are kept and shown in their own section.

Adjust the values with sliders and switches — every field explains in one sentence what it does, shows the vanilla value and can be reset individually. Quick presets cover common setups like fresh loot or hopper punishment.

Check the plausibility panel, then download globals.xml and upload it to mpmissions/<your mission>/db/ on your server. Changes apply after a restart.

Frequently asked questions

What is globals.xml in DayZ?

It is the central configuration file of the Central Economy: it sets global limits like the number of infected and animals, cleanup times for dead bodies and ruined loot, login/logout timers, server-hopping penalties, flag pole behaviour and the condition of freshly spawned loot.

Where do I find globals.xml on my server?

In the mission folder of your server: mpmissions/<mission>/db/globals.xml — for example dayzOffline.chernarusplus/db/globals.xml. Upload the edited file there and restart the server. The vanilla file is identical on all official maps.

Does the editor work with modded servers?

Yes. Variables added by mods are kept on import, can be edited in the mod section, and you can add new ones yourself. Nothing gets lost on export — the file keeps its original order.

Why is a missing variable filled with a value different from vanilla?

If a variable is missing from the file, the game uses a hard-coded engine default that can differ from the shipped mission value (LootDamageMax: 0 instead of 0.82, LootSpawnAvoidance: 50 instead of 100). The editor fills in exactly this engine default, so your server behaves the same before and after the roundtrip.

How do I make more loot spawn?

globals.xml only controls the global frame: initial spawn percentage, refill on restart and respawn wave sizes. The amount per item is defined in types.xml (nominal/min) — use our Types Editor for that. In this editor, 'Refill on restart' at 100% is the quickest boost.
